It used the new structures for lessors of existing portfolios to reduce residual risk, increase return on assets or to postpone taxes. During this period, CFI marketed leasing programs with major accounting firms, investment banks and institutional investors in the US and Europe.
1969 to 1990 - Computer Leasing
CFI started as a lessor of IBM mainframes, with the F1000 as its customers. It recruited, trained and managed a new account sales force dedicated to the origination of computer leases. CFI developed innovative operating lease structures and raised the necessary capital (debt and equity) to fund the programs. It remarketed computers to maximize the residual value.
